Biographical Information[edit]
Masao Koyama played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Koyama was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 1981 NPB draft, and he went 2-2 with a 5.83 ERA in 1983 after staying in the NPB Farm Leagues for a year. He was 6-3 with a 4.30 ERA in 1984, and he slumped to 6-7 with a 5.59 ERA in 1985. Koyama then improved to 5-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 1986, and his ERA was 4.76 with a 4-6 record in 18 games in 1987. However, he only pitched 1 1/3 innings in 1988 due to injuries, and he didn't reach the top team again before he announced his retirement in 1991.
Overall, Koyama was 23-21 with a 4.81 ERA, struck out 155 and pitched 385 2/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
