Biographical Information[edit]

Masao Inagaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Inagaki signed with the Toei Flyers in 1957, and he went 10-for-49 in his first season. He hit .202/.259/.269 in 42 games in 1958, and he won the competition for the starting second baseman spot with Masatoshi Matsuoka in 1959. Inagaki recorded a .228/.263/.324 batting line that season, and he collected 13 steals with a .269/.326/.337 batting line in 1960. He then hit .243/.286/.350 in 1961, but he lost his spot when Shuzo Aono joined the team. Inagaki recorded a .220/.267/.276 batting line in 71 games in 1962, and he was 1-for-9 in the 1962 Nippon Series; the Flyers beat the Hanshin Tigers in 7 games. He slumped to .171/.204/.233 in 1963, and he announced his retirement after he had a 7-for-26 record in 1964.

Overall, Inagaki hit .231/.281/.312 with 279 hits and 13 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
