Biographical Information

Masahiro Ishii was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the 1982 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He was 4-for-15 in 1985, and he hit .170/.228/.358 in 59 plate appearances over 56 games in 1986. Ishii played 48 games with a .241/.293/.352 batting line in 1987, and he went 2-for-11 in 1988. He had a 6-for-22 record in 1989, and he only played 5 games in 1990. The Giants then traded him to the Hanshin Tigers for Nobuhiko Tsurumi, but he didn't return to the big club again before he announced his retirement in 1991.
