Biographical Information

Masahiko Goseki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Goseki signed with the Yakult Swallows in 1981, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He was hitless in 6 at-bats in 1984, and he went 1-for-9 in 1985. Goseki spent the entire 1986 season in the minors, then he hit .167/.167/.333 in 24 games in 1987. He played 56 games with a .234/.273/.383 batting line in 1988, and the Swallows traded him to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Hiroaki Tani. Goseki had a .211/.253/.296 batting line in 42 games in 1989, and he slumped to .071/.235/.071 in 1990. He only played 12 more games for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1992. He then scouted for the Rakuten Golden Eagles, signing Shoma Fujihira, Yuki Matsui, Manabu Mima, Satoshi Nagai, Louis Okoye, Yuhei Takanashi, Yoshiaki Watanabe, RikaiJyumile Waters and Tsuyoshi Yamasaki.

Overall, Goseki hit .203/.242/.306 with 47 hits in 8 seasons in NPB.
