Biographical Information[edit]
Masaharu Sato played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Sato was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 5th round of the 1969 NPB draft, and he hit .242/.338/.347 in 96 games in his first season. He slumped to .196/.238/.217 in 1971, then he had a .277/.320/.298 batting line in 89 games in 1972. Sato struggled in 1973 as his batting line fell to .181/.269/.226, and he batted .190/.203/.224 in 49 games in 1974. He went 10-for-41 in 1975, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Sato hit .216/.281/.260 with 133 hits and 2 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
