Biographical Information[edit]
Masafumi Suenaga played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Suenaga was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 4th round of the 1999 NPB draft, and he spent his first four seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 32 at-bats combined for the top team. He hit .278/.312/.375 in 65 games in 2005, and he recorded a .281/.299/.395 batting line in 2006. Suenaga stayed in the minors in the next two seasons, and he led the Western League with 22 steals in 2008. He played 73 games with a .279/.347/.383 batting line in 2009, and he went 15-for-60 in 2010. Suenaga was placed in the minors in the next two season after young outfielders Ryuhei Matsuyama and Yoshihiro Maru shined, and he announced his retirement in 2012. He later became a scout, signing Sotaro Shimauchi, Yuto Nakada and Takahiro Nakamura.
Overall, Suenaga hit .268/.315/.372 with 116 hits and 7 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
