Biographical Information[edit]
Marcy McDonnell played one game for the Baltimore Marylands of the National Association in 1873. He was the starting pitcher on April 14th and gave up 24 runs on 18 hits in a complete game. However, only 3 of the runs were earned, so his career ERA is a respectable but very deceiving 3.00.
He was wrongly listed as "McDoolan" with no first name for 150 years or so. Researcher Justin McKinney identified him through connections with other players on the team. He also played in an Old Timers game in 1895, which confirms his identity.
