Biographical Information[edit]

Satake hit .369 with three straight best nine awards in his college career. He was drafted by the Orix BlueWave in the 4th round of the 1996 NPB draft, and he became the first player in NPB history to get 4 hits in his debut. Satake ended up hitting .258/.320/.282 in his first season (splitting 3B with Chris Donnels), then he slumped to .200/.229/.240 in 1998. He then had a .200/.243/.279 batting line in 1999, and he struggled again in 2000 as his batting line was .213/.268/.400 in 2000. The BlueWave then merged with the Kintetsu Buffaloes, and Satake was assigned to the newly-founded Rakuten Golden Eagles. He had a solid .310/.365/.360 batting line in 64 games in 2005, and he also collected the first inside-the-park home run in Rakuten's history on September 27. However, Satake slumped to .172/.270/.219 in 2006, and he announced his retirement. He was the fielding coach for the Golden Eagled from 2007 to 2009, and he returned to Orix as a scout in 2010. Satake was their fielding coach from 2011 to 2021, and he went back to Rakuten as fielding coach from 2022 to 2023.

Overall, Satake hit .242/.303/.305 with 251 hits and 5 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
