Biographical Information[edit]

Loukas Soukeras has been on the Greek national team.

He began playing Little League in Greece but the country tore up their baseball fields during their economic crisis and the ensuing austerity policies. [1] While Soukeras and local players tried to maintain them on their own, they were eventually bulldozed, forcing Greek players to go abroad to play; Soukeras wound up playing in Croatia for four years. [2] He was on the Greek team (as usual, pretty much all Americans of Greek descent) in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier but did not get into a game. [3] At the 2023 European Championship, he pinch-hit for Kasey Caras in the last inning of a 14-1 loss to champion Spain and drew a walk from Fernando Baez. [4]

Moving to Norway for the '25 season, he played for Vãlerenga Baseball. They made the 2025 Federation Cup, in which he was 3-for-10 as a 2B/OF and had 5 chances error-free. [5] He was the only native Greek on the Greek team in the 2025 European Championship [6] and again got one plate appearance. Batting for Andre Demetral in their win over Lithuania, he was retired by Lukas Morkūnas. He stayed in to play right field but was then lifted for pinch-hitter Peter Dudunakis. [7]
