Louisville White Sox
The first major Negro League team from Louisville, KY played in the 1931 Negro National League and was known as the Louisville White Sox. They finished 19-23 under manager Candy Jim Taylor. 2B Sammy T. Hughes hit .421, OF Red McNeal led the league at .366 and 1B Joe Scott was fifth at .346. Lefty Capers led the staff with a 7-2 record. The NNL folded after the year and Louisville would field a team the next season in the Negro Southern League - the Louisville Black Caps.
