Originally assigned to the Minneapolis Millerettes, she was spotted by Kenosha Comets manager Marty McManus, who traded for her. In 1945, McManus joined the South Bend Blue Sox and traded for her again. That season, with the Blue Sox, she hit in 13 consecutive games.
Over the course of her career, Mahon hit .281 with 400 RBIs in 837 games.
After her playing days, Mahon earned a graduate degree in education and was a teacher for more than three decades. She was inducted in the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
