Biographical Information[edit]
Kumeo Chikami signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1950, and he hit .231/.311/.314 in 61 games in his first season. He had a .289/.309/.459 batting line in a career-high 143 plate appearances over 59 games in 1951 (he backed up Kaname Miyazaki at 2B and Hatsuo Kiyohara at 3B), then he slumped to .218/.291/.359 in 1952. Chikami then jumped to the Tokyu Flyers, and he struggled again as his batting line was .173/.247/.235 in 1953. Chikami only played one game in 1954, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Chikami hit .236/.294/.354 with 98 hits and 8 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
