Biographical Information[edit]

Kuan-Wei Yang is a catcher. He played for Taiwan in the 2005 Asian Youth Championship and 2007 Asian Junior Championship. Backing up Kun-Sheng Lin in the 2010 Haarlem Baseball Week, he went 3 for 12 with two doubles, a walk, two runs and a RBI in four games. In the 2010 World University Championship, he was 9 for 14 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, two walks, seven runs and 11 RBI in five games as Taiwan's top hitter. He drove in five runs in the 5th/6th place game but Taiwan lost 15-14 to Canada.

Yang was the starting catcher for Taiwan in the 2011 World Port Tournament. He hit .394/.474/.545 with 8 runs in 8 games and threw out half of the eight runners who tried to steal on him. Taiwan beat Cuba in the finale to win the event. He remained with Taiwan for the 2011 Baseball World Cup.
