Biographical Information[edit]

Kosuke Yoshihara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 13 years.

Yoshihara was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 2nd round of the 1990 NPB draft, and he went 9-for-58 in his first season. He recorded a .270/.372/.297 batting line in 1992, and he hit .224/.241/.329 in 1993. Yoshihara slumped to .056/.053/.056 in 1995, and he went 7-for-21 in 1996. He was 7-for-43 in 1997, and he played 35 games with a .242/.284/.306 batting line in 1998. Yoshihara was hitless in 5 at-bats in 1999 before the Giants traded him to the Chunichi Dragons for Hidekazu Mitsuyama, and he went 2-for-9 in the rest of the season. He had a 7-for-21 record in 2000, and the Dragons traded him to the Orix BlueWave for Yuichi Yanagisawa. Yoshihara went 6-for-26 in 2001, but he only got 18 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 2006. He then became the minor league battery coach for Orix from 2006 to 2009, and he coached their top team in 2010. He jumped to the Giants and served as battery coach from 2014 to 2015.

Overall, Yoshihara hit .214/.267/.280 with 94 hits in 13 seasons in NPB.
