Biographical Information[edit]

Koji Ohshiro played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Ohshiro hit .307 with 36 steals in his college career, and his 112 career hits were the most by a Rikkyo alumnus. He was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 3rd round of the 2015 NPB draft; the scout was Daisuke Hayakawa. Ohshiro hit .224/.246/.261 in 64 games in 2016, mainly backing up Eiichi Koyano at 3B. He took the starting shortstop spot from Ryoichi Adachi in 2017. He played 122 games with a .246/.285/.299 batting line that season while fielding .974, and he hit .231/.289/.310 with 15 steals in 2018 while fielding .980 at SS and .944 at 3B. Ohshiro then recorded a .262/.329/.364 batting line in 2019, and he slumped to .207/.274/.231 in 94 games.

The Okinawa native missed most of the 2021 season due to knee injury, and he only played 49 games with a .180/.242/.230 batting line. Ohshiro then hit .244/.333/.356 in 57 games in 2022 (backing up Ryoichi Adachi at 2B as Kotaro Kurebayashi had taken over at SS), and he went 9-for-46 in 2023. He scored a run in the 2023 Nippon Series, and the Buffaloes lost to the Hanshin Tigers in 7 games. He mainly stayed in the minors in 2024 (and didn't see much playing time there either), and he was 4-for-13 with the big club.
