Biographical Information[edit]
Koichi Ikeue played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Ikeue was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 4th round of the 1985 NPB draft, and he spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only pitched 11 games combined for the big club. He also went 6-3 with a 4.70 ERA for the Salt Lake City Trappers in 1987. Ikeue was 3-0 with a 3.63 ERA in 1989, and he pitched 2/3 of a shutout inning in the 1989 Nippon Series Game 3. The Buffaloes lost to the Yomiuri Giants in 7 games. He then went 2-2 with a 4.06 ERA in 1990, but he only got 11 appearances combined in the next three seasons. Ikeue came back in 1994 with a 2.65 ERA in 25 games, then he went 1-6 with a 4.24 ERA in 1995. He had a 3-0 record with a 4.65 ERA in 39 games in 1996, and he only pitched 2 more games before the Buffaloes released him in 1998. The Yokohama BayStars picked him up, but he failed to reach the big club again and he announced his retirement. He later became an assistant coach for Osaka Institute of Technology.
Overall, Ikeue was 14-10 with a 4.15 ERA, struck out 250 and pitched 325 2/3 innings in 10 seasons in NPB.
