Biographical Information[edit]
Kiyoshi Tanioka was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 3rd round of the 1969 NPB draft, and he only played 3 games combined for the big club in his first four seasons. He was 3-for-13 in 1974, and he went 4-for-31 in 1975. Tanioka played 34 games with a 3-for-39 record in 1976, and he was traded to the Hankyu Braves for Ikumasa Oshima. Tanioka was 5-for-20 in 1979, but he only got 2 at-bats in 1980 and he announced his retirement.
