Biographical Information[edit]
Kiyoshi Fujie signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1953, and he went 2-4 with a 2.82 ERA in his first season. He pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings in the 1953 Nippon Series Game 2, but he surrendered 2 runs in 5 innings in Game 4. Fujie completed a shutout inning in Game 7, and the Hawks lost to the Yomiuri Giants. His ERA was 4.13 in 7 games in 1954, and he announced his retirement. Fujie later became the pitching coach for the Hawks from 1968 to 1969, for the Hankyu Braves in 1973 and for the Hanshin Tigers from 1979 to 1981.
