Biographical Information

Kimio Takagi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Takagi signed with the Nagoya Dragons in 1951, but he went 4-for-22 in 1952 and he left the team. The Toei Flyers signed him in 1954, and he was 2-for-27 that season. Takagi hit .255/.301/.302 in 1955, and he played a career-high 107 games with a .227/.273/.282 batting line in 1956. He then recorded a .245/.328/.344 batting line in 1957, and he batted .284/.329/.403 un 68 games in 1958. Takagi slumped to .220/.270/.271 in 1959, and he struggled again in 1960 as his batting line was .189/.241/.220. He lost his spot after Hachiro Yamamoto was moved to first, so he only got 2 at-bats in 1961 and he announced his retirement. He was a minor league coach for the Flyers from 1962 to 1968, and he was the batting coach for them in 1969 and for their minors team in 1971. Takagi also managed their minor league team in 1970, and he moved to the Lotte Orions as the same spot in 1973. He was Lotte's bench coach in 1974, and he also managed their minors team from 1977 to 1982. When Masaichi Kaneda left the team in 1975, Takagi was an interim manager for 8 games. He then became the bench coach for Lotte in 1987 and for the Nippon Ham Fighters in 1992. He also scouted for the Daiei Hawks.

Overall, Takagi hit .230/.285/.297 with 216 hits and 3 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
