Biographical Information[edit]
Kimihiro Sato pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Sato signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1961, and he went 4-7 with a 3.57 ERA in his first season. He only pitched 9 games with a 1.50 ERA in 1963, and his ERA was 1.38 in 7 appearances in 1964. Sato then recorded a 3.74 ERA in 42 relief outings with a 3-6 record in 1965, and he was traded to the Chunichi Dragons for Minoru Kakimoto. Sato went 3-4 with a 2.38 ERA in 1966, and he was 4-5 with a 3.38 ERA in 1967. He allowed 6 runs in 4 2/3 innings in 1968 before the Dragons traded him with Ikuo Shimano to the Nankai Hawks for Motoaki Horigome, and he pitched 30 games with a 3.36 ERA in the rest of the season. Sato's ERA was 4.95 in 22 games in 1969, then he was involved into the Black Mist Scandal and the league banned him for life.
Overall, Sato was 14-27 with a 3.41 ERA, struck out 284 and pitched 580 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
