Biographical Information[edit]

Kikuo Yamada was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 5th round of the 1989 NPB draft, and he had a 3.52 ERA in 17 appearances in 1990. He pitched 32 games with a 4.00 ERA in 1991, and he improved to a 2.67 ERA in 46 relief outings in 1992. Yamada was 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 1993, then he recorded a 3.28 ERA in 24 games in 1994. However, he struggled in 1995 as his ERA rose to 6.75 in 35 appearances, and he pitched 19 games with a 4.50 ERA in 1997. Yamada didn't reach the big club in 1998, and the Dragons released him. He signed with the Hiroshima Carp, but he only got 5 appearances in 1999 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yamada went 6-8 with a 3.76 ERA, struck out 184 and pitched 263 innings in 222 games in 8 seasons in NPB.
