Biographical Information[edit]
Kikuo Tokunaga played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Tokunaga signed with the Nagoya Dragons in 1951, and he went 3-2 with a 4.06 ERA in his first season. He had a 5.68 ERA in 10 games in 1952, and he broke out in 1953. Tokunaga went 9-10 with a 2.62 ERA, and he was 5th in ERA in the Central League (between Masaichi Kaneda and Takehiko Bessho). He then went 11-7 with a 3.21 ERA in 1954, and he allowed 3 runs in 3 innings in the 1954 Nippon Series Game 3. The Dragons beat the Nishitetsu Lions in 7 games. He was 12-9 with a 2.28 ERA in 1955, and he went 8-10 with a 3.02 ERA in 1956. Tokunaga then had a 3.66 ERA in 12 games in 1957, but he only pitched 5 games in 1958 and he announced his retirement. He coached the Dragons from 1960 to 1961.
Overall, Tokunaga was 44-38 with a 2.95 ERA, struck out 204 and pitched 731 2/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
