Pitcher Kieran Cree made his South African national team debut in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He entered in the 8th with a 8-0 deficit against Puerto Rico, allowed a double to Miguel Abreu, the first batter he faced, retired Irving Falu but walked Angel Sanchez and Miguel Negron and gave up a triple to José Valentin and a single to Luis Matos to make it a four-run frame before retiring the last two batters (Stephen Morales and Raúl Casanova). His 36.00 ERA was not South Africa's highest in the event, as Dylan Lindsay was at 81.00.
In the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, Cree was on the roster but did not get into a game. In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he relieved Russell Olivier with a 9-5 deficit, two on and two outs in the bottom of the 8th against host Australia in the finale. He walked Trent Oeltjen and Mitch Nilsson to force in a run before Garth Cahill relieved.
Cree and Damon Mitchell combined on a one-hitter of Zimbabwe in the 2019 Africa Cup Baseball Championship; South Africa won the title. In the event, he allowed one unearned run in three innings, no hits and struck out two. He did not remain with South Africa for the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier.
