Biographical Information[edit]

Kenzo Hayashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Hayashi signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1962, and he only got 11 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He was Taiyo's main infield utility man in 1965, and he played 98 games with a .259/.289/.376 batting line. Hayashi crushed 12 homers with a .200/.238/.428 batting line in 1966, then he slumped to .096/.130/.135 in 1967. Hayashi bounced back with a .268/.318/.354 batting line in 1968, but his batting line fell to .194/.275/.418 in 1969. He played 49 games with a .177/.227/.274 batting line in 1970, and he went 9-for-42 in 1971. Hayashi then jumped to the Nittaku Home Flyers, but he was 0-for-12 in 1973 and he announced his retirement. He was good at facing Yutaka Enatsu, and Enatsu once joked that he paid most of Hayashi's salary.

Overall, Hayashi hit .209/.253/.349 with 152 hits and 23 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
