Biographical Information[edit]

Kenji Komatsu played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years

Komatsu was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the first round of the 1970 NPB draft, and he went 1-for-16 in 1971. He hit .273/.360/.318 in 32 games in 1972, then he slumped to .200/.200/.250 in 1973. Komatsu then had a .163/.217/.302 batting line in 71 games in 1974, but he only played 17 games combined for the big club in the next two seasons. He led the Western League in homers and RBI in 1975. Komatsu was then traded with Kiyoshi Morimoto and Yoshinori Toda to the Chunichi Dragons for Mitsuo Inaba, Kinji Shimatani and Masato Osumi, and he hit .207/.324/.379 in 53 games in 1979. He only got 7 more at-bats for the big club before he announced his retirement in 1980.

Overall, Komatsu hit .183/.258/.303 with 32 hits in 8 seasons in NPB.
