Biographical Information[edit]

Kenichiro Idemoto pitched one of the classic games in the Koshien tournament in 1991, going 16 innings in a 4-3 loss to Yoshinori Ueda, throwing 238 pitches. He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 5th round of the 1991 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first three seasons. He was 5-6 with a 4.10 ERA for the Visalia Oaks in 1995, and he pitched 4 games with a 1.93 ERA for the big club. Idemoto went 1-1 with a 1.95 ERA in 1996, but he slumped to 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 287 appearances in 1997. He didn't reach the big club in the next two seasons, and he was released in 1999[. The Seibu Lions signed him, and Idemoto allowed 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings in 2000 then he announced his retirement.
