Biographical Information[edit]
Keisuke Kano played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 14 years.
Kano was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2000 NPB draft, but he spent his first 6 seasons almost entirely in the minors; he only got 9 at-bats combined with the big club. He played 54 games with a .274/.296/.442 batting line in 2007, and he went 2-for-9 in 2007. Kano finally got the starting catcher spot in 2008, and he played 127 games with a .262/.313/.349 batting line. However, when former Major Leaguer Kenji Johjima joined the team, Kono was placed in the minors again, and he only got 113 at-bats combined with the big club in the next 5 seasons. He was also moved to the outfield. Kono played 66 games with a .274/.333/.429 batting line in 2015, and he hit .241/.287/.356 in 2016. He stayed in the minors for nearly the entire 2017 season, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kano hit .255/.300/.370 with 200 hits and 18 homers in 14 seasons in NPB.
