Biographical Information[edit]
Keisuke Hayasaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Hayasaka was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 8th round of the 2002 NPB draft, and he led the Eastern League with 22 steals in his first season. He went 0-for-4 with the big club in 2003, but he only played 12 games combined for the top team in the next four seasons despite his leading the minors in steals again in 2005. Hayasaka was 2-for-24 in 2008, and he finally got some chances in 2009. He played 103 games as Lotte's infield utility man, and he hit .224/.278/.320 with 12 steals. However, when rookie Takashi Ogino shined, Hayasaka's spot was taken and he only played 16 games with a 6-for-24 record before he tore his ACL in June and missed the rest of the season. Hayasaka hit .224/.262/.259 in 22 games in 2011, and he was hitless in 11 at-bats in 2012 while playing 68 games, mostly as defensive replacement. He went 3-for-22 in 2013, and he only got 6 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 2015.
Overall, Hayasaka hit .196/.244/.274 with 75 hits in 10 seasons in NPB. He had more runs (77) than hits.
