Komada then recorded a solid 1.51 ERA in 28 appearances in 1954 (had he qualified, he would've been second to Sugishita in ERA), and he had a 2.51 ERA with a 5-4 record in 1955. He only pitched 5 games in 1956, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Komada was 45-39 with a 3.10 ERA, struck out 264 and pitched 831 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
