Biographical Information

Kazuya Wako was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 3rd round of the 1967 NPB draft, and he went 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA in his first season. He allowed 7 runs in 7 2/3 innings in 1969, and he had a 1-7 record with a 4.27 ERA in 1970. Wako stayed in the minors in 1971, and he recorded a 4.83 ERA in 25 relief outings in 1972. The Lotte Orions then selected him in the active draft, but his ERA was 7.94 in 11 games in 1973 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Wako was 5-9 with a 4.86 ERA, struck out 97 and pitched 176 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
