Biographical Information[edit]
Kazuo Kai was drafted by the Nishitetsu Lions in the 3rd round of the 1966 NPB draft, and he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first three seasons; he only got 22 at-bats combined. Kai hit .141/.189/.259 in 44 games in 1970, and he had a .241/.298/.356 batting line in 1971. He went 0-for-11 in 1972, and he was traded to the Lotte Orions for Nobuyuki Fujii. He played 66 games with a .236/.289/.270 batting line as the backup shortstop behind Yoshihiro Iizuka in 1973, and he announced his retirement.
