Biographical Information[edit]
Katsuo Takemoto signed with the Osaka Tigers in 1950, but he only pitched one game for the big club before he announced his retirement in 1951. He then became an umpire of the Central League from 1954 to 1983, and he worked 2,816 games in his career. Takemoto worked 7 Nippon Series (1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974) and 9 All-Star Games (1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1978 and 1980). As of 2025, he was 31st in games worked in NPB history, between Tadatoshi Saida and Yoichi Igarashi.
