Biographical Information[edit]
Kaoru Nihei was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1989 NPB draft, and he only got 5 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He played 82 games, as Hiroshima's #4 outfielder, with a .267/.317/.360 batting line in 1994, then he hit .311/.338/.426 in 34 games (66 at-bats) in 1995. Nihei's batting line fell to .190/.227/.238 in 1996, and he was hitless in 15 games in 1997. The Carp then traded him to the Chunichi Dragons for nothing, but he was 0-for-2 in 1998 and he announced his retirement in 1999.
