Biographical Information[edit]
Junichi Jinno played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.
Jinno hit .348 with 9 homers and three Best Nine awards in his college career, and he set the Aichi University League hits record for both a single season (26) and career (125). He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 7th round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he went 2-for-19 in 1993. Jinno hit .193/.337/.229 in 1994, and he improved to .291/.339/.400 in 1995. He crushed 3 homers against the Yakult Swallows on June 12, 1996, but he didn't hit any homers in the rest of the season. He was the second player to do so in NPB history, following Mitsugu Ishibashi in 1988. Jinno ended up hitting .215/.262/.342 that season, and he was 8-for-53 in 1997. He played 44 games with a .245/.339/.324 batting line in 1998, and he recorded a solid .330/.398/.534 batting line in 1999. Jinno played 66 games with a .215/.263/.323 batting line in 2000, and he went 14-for-38 in 2001. He batted .221/.286/.351 in 2002, but he only got 5 at-bats in 2003 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Jinno hit .239/.317/.339 with 164 hits and 12 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
