Biographical Information[edit]
Jun Takenaka signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1962, and he was 4-for-14 in his first season. He also pitched 7 games with a 5.25 ERA, and he became a full-time infielder. Takenaka was 8-for-45 in 1964, and he played 72 games with a .155/.187/.256 batting line in 1965. He then went 1-for-13 in 35 games in 1966, and he had a 9-for-45 record in 67 games in 1967. Due to his weak offense but fine glove at short, Takenaka was often used as late-inning defensive replacement. He was 5-for-42 in 1968, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Takenaka hit .163/.178/.243 with 47 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
