Biographical Information[edit]
Jun Inoue played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 15 years.
Inoue was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 3rd round of the 1988 NPB draft, and he spent his first seven seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 75 at-bats combined for the big club. He hit .290/.362/.355 in 60 games in 1996, and he slumped to .179/.205/.239 in 1997. He bounced back soon with a .330/.365/.413 batting line in 1998, and he went 2-for-4 in the 1998 Nippon Series; the Whales beat the Seibu Lions in 6 games. However, that was his last season with Yokohama in which he had more than 100 at-bats a year (an outfielder, he was used frequently as a pinch-hitter), and he hit .304/.337/.519 in 64 games in 1999.
The Sendai native recorded a .242/.284/.258 batting line in 2000, and he played 83 games with a .300/.333/.413 batting line in 2001. He only got 13 at-bats in 2002, and he was released. The Chiba Lotte Marines picked him up, and Inoue collected 19 doubles with a .283/.320/.461 batting line in 2003. He collected 19 doubles again with a .289/.344/.458 batting line in 80 games in 2004, then he slumped to .163/.250/.326 in 2005. Inoue hit .218/.283/.236 in 30 games in 2006, and he announced his retirement. He was the minor league fielding coach for the Yokohama BayStars from 2006 to 2009 and in 2011, and he was the fielding coach in 2010 and batting coach for their top team in 2012. Inoue also scouted for the Rakuten Golden Eagles. He signed Tsubasa Yoshino.
Overall, Inoue hit .269/.313/.396 with 302 hits and 18 homers in 15 seasons in NPB.
