He was called up to West Sacramento, CA, where the Athletics now made their temporary home after leaving Oakland, and made his debut on June 29th facing the Los Angeles Dodgers. Starting at second base and batting ninth, he had an excellent debut, going 3 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI, although the A's lost the game, 9-4. He had played all three left infield positions in the minors, and in his debut game moved from second base to shortstop after SS Alika Williams was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the 8th.
