Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Josh Knoth was selected with the 33rd overall pick of the 2023 amateur draft, taken out of high school by the Milwaukee Brewers in Competitive Balance Round A of the draft. He was Milwaukee's second pick that day, after they had taken college infielder Brock Wilken with the 18th pick. Knoth had grown up and gone to high school on Long Island. His signing bonus of $2 million was considered to be below slot, even though he turned down a previous commitment to attend the University of Mississippi in order to sign. He was considered to have the best curve ball of anyone eligible for that year's draft - high school or college and also had a fastball that topped out at 96 mph even though at 6' 1" he was considered undersized by the criteria of the modern game.

He only started his professional career in 2024, when he was assigned to the Carolina Mudcats of the Carolina League. He made 21 starts and logged 84 1/3 innings, going 4-6, 4.48 with 96 strikeouts but also 40 walks. He then missed all of the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery just as spring training was getting under way.
