Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Johnny O'Connor had one of the most minimal cups of coffee, having no chances in the field and not getting a chance at the plate. He appeared for the Chicago Cubs on September 16, 1916; the Cubs used eight catchers that year.
O'Connor, born in Ireland, had been at the University of Illinois in 1911 and 1912. Through the end of the 20th Century, he was the second-to-the-last Irish-born player to come to the majors, before Joe Cleary - although dozens came up in the 19th Century, few came up in the 20th Century.
