Biographical Information[edit]

John Schultz pitched six games in 1891 for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is not to confused with his contemporary, catcher John Schulze. With the Phillies and on various amateur teams, he often formed a battery with George Ulrich.

He was originally from Staten Island, NY but moved to Philadelphia, PA at some point. He married there and researchers were finally able to identify him thanks to his marriage certificate, as all other details in that document matched what was already known about the ballplayer.
