Biographical Information[edit]
John Kaufman played in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.
Kaufman represented the USA in the 1994 Baseball World Cup. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays picked him in the 15th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft, and he was 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 1996 for the Butte Copper Kings. Kaufman went 9-5 with a 3.37 ERA for the St. Petersburg Devil Rays in 1997, and he was 7-5 with a 3.18 ERA there in 1998. He also pitched 7 games with a 6.66 ERA for the Orlando Rays that season, and he was 1-3 with a 8.83 ERA in Orlando in 1999. Kaufman recorded a 3.57 ERA in 16 relief outings for the St. Petersburg in '99, and he announced his retirement.
