Biographical Information[edit]
Joel Petzold has played in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.
He debuted in the Bundesliga-1 with the 2022 Stuttgart Reds, getting hit by a pitch and scoring a run at age 16. [1] He did not appear for them in the 2023 regular season. [2] In 2024, he was 1-0 with a 3.07 followed by a 2-1, 1.86 record in 2025 when he struck out 36 in 29 IP. He tied Christian Pedrol for second in ERA, allowed the lowest average and slugging percentage and was third in OPS (554, after Pedrol and Logan Hofmann) among hurlers in the Bundesliga-1 South. [3]
Petzold had a 2.63 ERA in two games for Germany in the 2025 U23 European Championship. [4] He remained with them for the 2025 European Championship but did not get into a game. [5]
