Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Joseph Colon began his professional career in 2009 after being taken in the 12th round of the 2009 amateur draft by the Cleveland Indians. The scout was Mike Soper.

He began his career as a starter, earning Mid-Season All-Star selections in 2012 and 2014. In 2012, he was 9-10 with a 3.43 ERA in 22 starts between the Lake County Captains (8-8, 2.90 ERA) and Carolina Mudcats (1-2, 7.53 ERA). In 2014, he was 8-7 with a 3.39 ERA in 25 starts for the Akron Aeros. He converted to relief pitching for 2015 and earned his first taste of Triple-A ball that year.

On July 1, 2017, he was suspended for the remainder of the season after testing positive for a synthetic form of testosterone. He was in the minor leagues at the time.
