Biographical Information[edit]
Jin Nakatani was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the first round of the 1997 NPB draft. On May 1999, he was hit on his right eye when his teammate Shin Nakagomi threw his cellphone to him, and he was nearly blinded. Fortunately, Nakatani recovered and made his NPB debut on 2002; he was 1-for-22 that season. Nakatani then stayed in the minors in the next two seasons, and he was traded to the Rakuten Golden Eagles for cash in 2005. He mainly stayed in the minors from 2006 to 2008, and he only got 12 at-bats combined in the major league. Nakatani then hit .200/.281/.300 with 3 homers in 55 games in 2009, but he returned to the minors and the Golden Eagles released him in 2011. Nakatani then signed with the Yomiuri Giants, and he was 0-for-2 in 2012 and he retired. He became the coach of Chiben Wakayama High School in 2018, winning the 2021 summer Koshien.
