Biographical Information

Jimmy Woulfe, as of 2006, is the only player in Major League history with a last name that starts with "Wou". There are currently no players in the minor leagues that have a chance of "threatening" this title any time soon, although one time-Los Angeles Dodgers draft picks Paul Wourms and Leonard Wouters both had surnames that began with "Wou".

Woulfe was one of the earliest players from New Orleans, LA to break into the majors, although the existence of three leagues in 1884 did bring six New Orleans players to the big leagues.
