Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jimmy Crooks played in the 2022 College World Series with the University of Oklahoma. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 4th round of the 2022 amateur draft. He was named the Texas League Player of the Year in 2024.
His major league debut came as a defensive replacement at catcher in the bottom of the 9th inning of a game against the Cincinnati Reds. Starting catcher Pedro Pagés had been replaced by pinch-runner José Fermín in the top of the inning, and he remained until the end of the game, as St. Louis won the game, 7-5, in 10 innings, but he did not come to bat. He made his first start behind the dish against those same Reds on August 31st, and his first big league hit was also his first big league homer, a solo shot off Sam Moll in the 7th inning in a 7-4 Cardinals win.
