Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Strickland missed the 1967 and 1968 seasons due to military service. He pitched in the major leagues from 1971 to 1973 with the Minnesota Twins and in 1975 with the Cleveland Indians. He was excellent in his first two seasons, with ERAs of 1.44 in 24 games and 2.50 in 25 games respectively. In 1973, however, he gave up 8 runs on 11 hits in his first 5 1/3 innings, was sent to the minors, and did not resurface until the end of the 1975 season, by which time he had changed teams.
All 60 of his major league appearances were in relief. Overall, he went 4-2, 2.68 with 5 saves.
