Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Austin played in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.
Austin was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 40th round of the 1988 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign and went to college. He represented the USA in the 1990 Baseball World Cup and 1990 Goodwill Games. The Montreal Expos picked him in the 4th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft, and he hit .326/.438/.508 in 71 games for the Jamestown Expos in 1991. He recorded a .235/.308/.336 batting line in 103 games for the West Palm Beach Expos in 1992, but he only played 33 games with a .236/.289/.292 batting line in 1993 and his professional career ended.
