Biographical Information[edit]
Jerry Utley was born in Stanton, MI, attended Detroit Central HS, and later studied at \the University of Michigan. An outstanding pitcher for Michigan, he coached the university's baseball team in 1904[1]. The Wolverines went 10-5 under him that season[2].
Utley played professional baseball from 1904 through 1906, appearing for Portage Lake, Hancock Infants, Charleston Sea Gulls, Atlanta Crackers, Memphis Egyptians, New Orleans Pelicans, and Houghton Giants. He also managed the Hancock Infants in 1905. He died in Detroit, MI in 1959.
