Biographical Information[edit]

Jerry DeSimone played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues, reaching AAA; he spent four seasons in AAA but never made the majors.

DeSimone was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th round of the 1978 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign. He represented the USA in the 1978 Amateur World Series. [1] The San Diego Padres picked him in the 11th round of the 1979 Amateur Draft, and he hit .284/.444/.364 in 67 games for the Walla Walla Padres in his first season. DeSimone played 99 games with a .273/.360/.366 batting line for the Amarillo Gold Sox in 1980, and he stole 18 bags with a .271/.363/.384 batting line there in 1981. He reached AAA level that season, and he was 13-for-52 with the Hawaii Islanders. DeSimone then had a .273/.381/.376 batting line in 136 games for the Islanders in 1982, and he crushed a career-high 10 homers with a .287/.368/.458 batting line for the Las Vegas Stars in 1983. He hit .272/.363/.379 in 74 games in 1984, and he announced his retirement.
